Bulldozer Removes Abandoned Property at Occupy SLC Eviction – November 12 2011
On November 12, Occupy SLC was evicted from Pioneer Park by police following orders from Mayor Ralph Becker. 18 people were arrested, and one cited. Two structures have been allowed to remain in an attempt to compromise with Occupy SLC, as well as allowing activities (though no camping) to continue at Gallivan Plaza. There were no incidents of violence from either protestors or the police. Many groups were present to provide assistance to the homeless and provide them a place to sleep, to assist with the legal interests of the movement and to show support and solidarity with the occupy movement.

@BlazingAnus if …
@BlazingAnus if you’re getting all your info. from the media and very little to none from actually being at an occupation, you have no idea what is going on. If a rape happens in a house, do you evict the whole city block?? If a person acts violently, is everyone within a mile radius of that person now guilty by association?
This was not …
This was not abandoned property and this particular pile had my friend’s whole camp in it. He got there as soon as he could and was very? upset to learn 5 minutes prior to his arrival his camp had been destroyed only minutes after Chief Burbank said we could reenter the park to claim property. This was a violation of 4th amendment rights to be secure in property and to be free from deprivation without due process.
